Job Description

Job Role: Quality Nurse

Location: Kauvery Hospital – Kovilambakkam

Department: Nursing Quality & Patient Safety / Nursing Quality

Experience: 1–5 Years

Role Overview:

The Quality Nurse is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality of nursing care and patient safety practices within the hospital. The role focuses on clinical audits, quality indicators, documentation, training, and ensuring compliance with NABH standards. The Quality Nurse works closely with the Nursing Department and Quality Team to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Monitoring & Audits: Conduct daily audits in wards, ICUs, OP, ER, and other clinical areas.Monitor compliance with:Medication management, Infection control practices, Patient safety protocols, Nursing documentation standards, Identify non-compliances and ensure timely corrective actions.Conduct incident reporting follow-ups and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

2. Quality Indicators & Reporting: Track and monitor nursing-related quality indicators (falls, pressure injuries, medication errors, etc.).Compile daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.Support analysis and interpretation of quality trends for management review.Prepare data for audits, internal assessments, and accreditation.

3. Patient Safety & Infection Control: Ensure adherence to hand hygiene, PPE usage, aseptic techniques, and infection control bundles.Participate in hospital infection control rounds.Monitor patient safety goals as per IPSG standards.Educate staff on error prevention and reporting.

4. Training & Education: Provide training to nursing staff on hospital policies, SOPs, and quality protocols.Assist the Nursing Educator in competency assessment and skill-building activities.Conduct reorientation programs based on audit findings.

5. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure accuracy and completeness of nursing documentation (nursing notes, consent forms, assessment charts, etc.).Maintain quality records required for NABH accreditation.Support departments during internal and external audits.

6. Coordination & Support: Coordinate with nurse in-charges, nursing supervisors, and clinical teams for quality-related activities.Support Quality team in implementing hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives.Participate in committees such as:Infection Control Committee, Nursing Quality Committee, Patient Safety Committee, Code Blue Committee.

  • Good knowledge of NABH standards and nursing quality indicators
  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior staff on clinical quality
  • Proficiency in HIS documentation and MS Office

Qualifications: B.Sc / M.Sc Nursing (Valid Nursing Council registration)

Experience: 1–5 years (Quality experience preferred)
